As educators, we recognize the lack of ethnically diverse arts programming in and outside of classrooms. As Muslim artists, we see how sharing our rich Islamic history and artistry can inspire others to create beauty and love in the world.
A branch of First Spring Records, First Spring Arts (FSA) was created to provide unique artistic learning opportunities that speaks to multi-ethnic and multi-faith audiences of all ages. Founded in 2016, FSA works to share musical, narrative, and illustrative artistic traditions from various Islamic cultures as well as providing developmental workshops for youth audiences.
Our commitment to the arts aims to reinvigorate an appreciation for the creative and healing capabilities a healthy artistic outlet can provide. The arts allows one to not only express themselves in a beautiful and challenging way, but allows others to understand feelings and emotions in the process. Now more than ever, it is vital that we create an environment where it is safe, affordable, and fun to open up, create, and work together to make something beautiful.
How We Work
To keep our services affordable, we recommend organizers gather a minimum of 10 students (exception for private lessons) with a preferred location. We will then work with you to develop a program tailored to your goals and schedule.
We offer Islamic inspired arts programming for all levels of students. Both adult and youth workshops are available for every setting including classrooms, homeschool coops, private events, camps, and corporate gatherings.
Music & Poetry
Explore beats and rhythms of traditional hand drumming, study the foundational principles of devotional music, or unleash your poetic soul. Your inner artist awaits!
Flex those artistic muscles through a rich cultural history of art and design. From ancient Mughal Architecture to traditional Turkish design and ornament, be inspired the moment you put brush to canvas.
Narratives & Storytelling
With a playful spirit, we approach the history of Islam in a way that is engaging and relatable to Muslims and non Muslims alike, while allowing to easily apply historical lessons to the context of their daily lives.
Coming of Age
Growing older holds many challenges. Whether it is recognizing the pitfalls of appropriate levels of gender interaction, or appreciating what it means to be a confident young Muslim, we help answer important questions straight from reliable sources.
